Hello!
My name is Ann Tokina. I am PhD in philology and work as an assistant professor
at the Centre of Russian Language and Culture of St.-Petersburg State University,
Russia. At the Center, I specialize in grammar, oral and writing practice,
text analyzing, business language, Russian literature (especially Dostoevsky).
I propose you a great possibility to study Russian Language using distance
education. Of course, the best way to study a foreign language is to go
to the country of its origin. However, if you do not have a lot of free
time, are busy at your work, or for some other reasons cannot visit Russia
now, I can help you in studying language, Russian culture, its history and
modern political and social situation. Besides, the distance education has
its own profits; you can practice in language in any comfortable for you
time and you need not go regularly to the courses. All you need is a computer
with Internet.
At present, there are many of various courses on CD or as textbooks, developed
for people independently studying foreign languages. Some of them are better,
some of them are worse. However, all of them have one very significant defect.
You cannot fully control the process of education. Of course, for example,
in many grammar textbooks, you can find keys to the exercises, but often
you will not be able to understand why this form of the verb or noun, this
or that construction was used in the phrase or the sentence.
If you have a will to begin learning Russian or to improve its level, I
can help you. I will be constantly checking your homework, correct your
mistakes and explain them to you. Also, depending on your level, you will
be getting recorded phonetic materials. In addition, you can buy additional
materials like textbooks, dictionaries, CD with Russian music and cinemas
which will help you better and faster to understand the language.
I can also help you to prepare for passing the State test on Russian Language
(this test can be passed only on the territory of Russia). Depending on
the level of the test, you can afterwards continue your education in Russian
Universities or work in Russia.
The education has been carried on from the elementary level (providing elementary
basic knowledge of lexical and grammar) up to advanced level (correction
course, systematizing the knowledge of the language and developing experiences).
The courses, I can offer to you are as follows. They depend on your level
of language, your own desires, and my estimation how you understood the
material:
- Lexical - grammar course
- Correctional course of grammar
- Syntax of Russian language
- Analytical reading of fictional and newspaper texts
- Writing
- Business language
Regular tests will be significant part of your education.
If you are interested in my offer, please, first you should to pass the
test. I developed it to determine approximately your level of Russian language.
